It is also worth noting that Livia was regarded to be as much a part of the Roman government as Augustus and to also be truly loved by Augustus as more than a political marriage, perhaps tying into Joyce's choice of Livia's name to insert into the name of Anna Livia Plurabelle, not to mention the aural similarities between "livia" and "liffey".
