- echoes of "A Painful Case" (Dubliners) in which Captain Sinico -a kaptain of a Rotterdam boat, (h)eleft his frizzy Fraufrau, Mrs. Sinico, who then takes up with Mr. Duffy, who ditches her; she takes to drink and is hit by a tram four years later. Here the wife remains sober. Or so it seems.
