cuddleys: cudleigh = cuid oidhche (Gaelic) = 'evening portion'. Originally a feudal due, a supper and evening's entertainment owed to a lord by his tenant. More recently, any kind of 'board and lodging.' The entertainment could include something 'cuddley' perhaps? Also means 'a bribe'
