- Ardnacrusha': Village in County Clare, on the River Shannon, and site of the Ardnacrusher power plant — one of the first major initiatives begun in 1922 by the new provisional government of the Irish Free State, when completed it supplied the bulk of electricity in the Republic of Ireland and created a demand for electricity throughout the populace.
