Long's gourgling barral

• long barrow: a prehistoric monument dating to the Neolithic period. They are rectangular or trapezoidal earth mounds traditionally interpreted as collective tombs. Around 300 are known from Scotland and England.
• gurgling: a hollow bubbling sound like that made by water running out of a bottle
• "There is a green island in lone Gougane Barra": a pom/song by J. J. Callanan (1795 – 1829), It begins:

    There is a green island in lone Gougane Barra,
    Where Allua of songs rushes forth as an arrow;
    In deep-valley'd Desmond - a thousand wild fountains 
    Come down to that lake from their homes in the mountains.

• Gougane Barra: a settlement, now in ruins, west of Macroom in County Cork, Ireland. It was named by Saint Finbarr, who is said to have built a monastery on an island in the lake nearby during the 6th century.
• gurgling barrel: of alcohol
