  • Luttrell: wealthy and prominent Anglo-Irish family in County Dublin, descended from Robert Luttrell who served as Lord Chancellor of Ireland from 1236 to 1246. Sir Thomas Luttrell was Solicitor General for Ireland (1532-34) and Chief Justice of the Irish Common Pleas (1534-54); his son, Sir James Luttrell was Sheriff of County Dublin, 1556-60. Most infamous was probably Colonel Henry Luttrell (1655-1717), who served in the Jacobite army during the Williamite-Jacobite War in Ireland, but betrayed Limerick to the Williamites in 1691 and defected to their army with an entire cavalry regiment. In 1800, his grave was opened and his skull broken with a pickaxe by Irish nationalists.
  • Luttrellstown Castle: Estate and castle owned by the above family in Clonsilla, County Dublin, until 1800. The castle still stands today as an upscale resort.
  • Luttrell Psalter: 14th century illumination of the Book of Psalms, commissioned by Sir Geoffrey Luttrell.
