Hrolf Ganger: generally thought to be Rollo, also known as Robert I, Duke of Normandy. Hrolf was a viking chieftain (c. 846 – c. 931) from Norway who conquered Normandy and became the semi-independent vassal of Charles the Simple, king of France (911). His Norse name, Hrolf Ganger, means Hrolf the Walker. He was the great-great-great-grandfather of William the Conqueror.
