- Trinacria: an island in the Odyssey on which Odysseus (Ulysses) and his men are marooned; the island belongs to Hyperion, the Sun, whose sacred oxen live there → Trinacria was (erroneously) identified with Sicily, another triangle-shaped island, by later Homeric commentators → Episode 15 of Joyce's novel Ulysses was originally called The Oxen of the Sun and is loosley modelled on its Homeric counterpart
