• Black Stone: a meteorite which is displayed at the Ka'aba (cubehouse) within the Great Mosque at Mecca; dating from pre-Islamic times as a heavenly relic, the stone is venerated and ritually kissed; according to Islamic tradition, the stone was white when it first fell from heaven, but was blackened by the sins of the world
