- do, re, mi, fa, sol, la, si, do (and ut): the syllables used in the solfa system for teaching voice training; ut was used originally for the tonic, being replaced by do in some versions
- retch: to vomit, throw up → continuing the food theme of this section, along with the obvious references to meat, fat, salt and lard
- sinks down (and out): suggestive of the Viconian cycle, as our bodies cycle foodstuffs through them
